Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kate Winslet in Ad of L’Oreal

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is to appear in a new L’Oreal ad with Academy Award winning actress, Kate Winslet. This is the first time that Aishwarya will be sharing the stage in her long contract with L’Oreal. However, the actress says she has always admired the work of Kate Winslet and looks forward to working with her.

The ad will be shot in Italy over two days by a renowned director. A source close to the Bollywood star said, “Aishwarya is very excited to meet Kate and moreover shoot with her for the ad.”

This is the first sign of a shift away from the usual image of Aishwarya as brand ambassador and might signal the start of L’Oreal plans to move Aishwarya to the over 30s market. This move came after Aishwarya refused to endorse a skin lightening cream for L’Oreal. The beauty company offered the part of brand ambassador to Sonam Kapoor instead. It is possible that L’Oreal were already planning on representing Aishwarya to the older market.

Aishwarya’s career with L’Oreal began in 2003. She has appeared in advertisement for L’Oreal for its shampoo, hair colour, lipstick and mascara. The adverts have been dubbed into Italian and presented to the Mediterranean market. It is Aishwarya versatility in appearance that increases her worldwide presence.

Aishwarya’s L’Oreal career coincided with her association with the Cannes festival. It was also a time when Aishwarya was launching herself in the American and European film market with releases like Bride and Prejudice, Mistress of Spice and Last Legion. This culminated in a part in Pink Panther which maximised her exposure in the USA.

Aishwarya’s time with L’Oreal marked the beginning of the beauty giants forays into the Indian subcontinent. The rise of the Asian economy opened up a new market of consumers in India. Previously Lakme had been the only choice for Indian women. Those who wanted a variety had to rely on expensive imports. Since then Channel, Mac, Revlon, and Bourjois are all stocked in Indian boutiques. L’Oreal was the first of these companies to venture into the Indian market and accepting Aishwarya onto its dream team was a good move.

“She also adorns the values of today’s woman: intelligent, self-assured and decisive. Be it her mesmerising blue-green eyes, her inherent talent and grace, or her obvious intellect, Aishwarya is undoubtedly one of the most admired actresses on Indian cinema.”

Aishwarya’s acceptance as a global brand ambassador with equal position to other L’Oreal faces such as Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell and Milla Jovovich was cemented with the ColorRiche lipstick campaign. Each brand ambassador endorsed her own choice of lipstick shade for L’Oreal. The lipsticks were embossed with the signature of the ambassador endorsing the colour. The colours were especially blended by international make up artist James Kaliardos.

The popularity of Aishwarya’s beige, nude shade with worldwide audiences testified to the fact that an Indian actress can cross international boundaries.

Aishwarya has not been shy in accepting international publicity. Winning Miss World in 1994 launched Aishwarya onto the world stage. The actress was quick to take advantage of any endorsement offers to promote her modelling career.

Aishwarya was the first Indian model to appear on European and American billboards as the face for De Beers diamonds. Her modelling work for Longines, the Swiss watch brand; in ad campaigns and on the ramp, also maintained her international presence. This is something encouraged by her as she pushed for a Hollywood career.

L’Oreal’s association with Aishwarya also opened doors for charitable work. To celebrate L’Oreal’s 100th year the company launched Beautiful Beginning in India. Aishwarya inaugurated the project in 2009 offering free beauty training to underprivileged girls at Khar Danda village. This was a partnership between L’Oreal and Aide et Action, an NGO specializing in free education. Aishwarya visited the village dressed in a chic fitted jacket and boot cut jeans combination and personally met the girls benefiting from the project.

The last meeting of Shahid Kapoor,Kareena Kapoor

Boney Kapoor’s Milenge Milenge hit the theatres on July 9. And the one reason why Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor fans won’t want to miss this flick is because this will probably have the pair together for the last time.

The last time the duo came together in Jab We Met, they created some awesome magic on screen. Director Satish Kaushik who can’t stop praising the two actors, says, “People want to see them together after Jab We Met. The whole thing about finding one’s true love is a very thrilling thought. The thought of looking for your love is what has kept romantic films so much in demand. And frankly, romance never goes out of fashion,” he says.

Besides this movie bringing back Kareena and Shahid on screen once again, it has some unique moments. Like Shahid dressing up as a girl. Even more special is Kareena’s tribute to her grandfather — the legendary showman Raj Kapoor.
Kareena, who has often confessed that she is a huge fan of her grandfather’s movies, got a chance to perform on the famous Mera joota hai Japani number from Shree 420. Director Satish Kaushik, who came up with idea, praises the Kapoor girl, saying, “She is so hardworking and an absolute professional. But beyond that she is crazy about movies,” he says.

The movie is a love story where a guy and a girl fall in love, but then part ways. However, destiny has some other plans in store for this made-for-each-other couple. The journey of these two lovers ensures that the movie maintains it’s pace. Kaushik says, “One of the reasons why this movie works is because it has a fast pace. In fact, I can say that this is the most fast-paced movie I have made. The audience travels along with the characters.” And who wouldn’t want to be a part of this jodi’s romantic ride, especially when it could be the last one.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson’s ECLIPSE to Cross $250m Milestone: Box Office

Directed by David Slade, and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse  earned an estimated $33.4m (a solid $7,475 per theater) at the US/Canada box office this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.

Following a perfectly acceptable 48.5% drop-off rate on its second weekend out, Eclipse was only behind Universal’s Despicable Me, which took in $60.1m on its debut weekend.

Eclipse‘s domestic twelve-day total currently stands at $237m, the fourth highest among 2010′s domestic releases, having just passed both How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek Forever After. Still ahead of Eclipse — all with more than $300m — are Toy Story 3, Alice in Wonderland, and Iron Man 2.

If weekend studio estimates are accurate, the Stewart-Pattinson-Lautner love triangle should cross the $250m mark either next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Worldwide, Eclipse has taken in $456m. It’ll surely cross the $500m mark next weekend.

Adrien Brody’s PREDATORS Surprises and Disappoints: Box Office

Nimród Antal‘s adventure/thriller Predators, starring Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Oleg Taktarov, and Laurence Fishburne was a good surprise for distributor Twentieth Century Fox on Friday, but turned out to be a disappointment of sorts by Sunday.

Predators performed better than expected on Friday, grossing an estimated $10.45m. Could the 2010 reboot of the 1987 John McTiernan-Arnold Schwarzenegger effort gross $30m over the three-day weekend? Would Predators make Academy Award winner Adrien Brody bankableish?

Well, if studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo are accurate, the answers are a) no b) who knows?

Predators took in an estimated $25.3m, after dropping an alarming 18.9% on Saturday and another 24.8% on Sunday. A Saturday drop usually isn’t very good news for a movie’s longevity or overall popularity. Much to the contrary.

For comparison’s sake: The action flick The A-Team grossed $25.6m on its opening weekend (per-theater average: $7,262 at 3,535 sites). After one month it has collected $73.97m.

The good news is that Predators averaged a solid $9,479 per theater — but at 2,669 sites (about 1,800 fewer locations than The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which averaged $7,475 on its second weekend out). Generally speaking, movies of comparable success will post higher averages if they’re playing at fewer theaters.

Better news: Predators cost about $40m to make. Although at this stage it’s unclear if the adventure flick will earn back its production cost domestically — it’d need to take in about $75m-$80m — it should do so comfortably once worldwide grosses are tallied. And then there are ancillary revenues as well.

Overseas, Predators opened with $18m at 22 territories and 3,094 theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter The top market was the United Kingdom with $3.5m.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher Feel 'Blessed'

Carrie Underwood has finally said her "I Do" to her NHL fiance Mike Fisher. On Saturday, July 10, the "Undo It" singer exchanged wedding vows with the Ottawa Senators center in a ceremony attended by 250 friends and family and held at a luxury resort, the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia.

In a statement sent to People magazine, the 27-year-old and her new husband said they are "blessed". Signed with the names of "Mike & Carrie Fisher," the statement from the newlyweds read, "We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!"

It was reported that the "Cowboy Casanova" hitmaker looked pretty in a chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier for the nuptials that featured classical music and the couple's favorite Bible readings. Security was tight, and among the friends joining her on her big day were the three original "American Idol" judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

Aside from those three TV judges, a number of country stars also came for the wedding. They included Garth Brooks as well as Faith Hill and her husband Tim McGraw. Mike's fellow Ottawa Senators players were invited to the wedding as well. Team mates, Chris Neil and Chris Phillips, were among them.

Carrie and Mike reportedly spent their wedding night in the Ritz's 5,400-square-foot Presidential House. The couple are, according to previous report, headed to Tahiti and Bora Bora for their honeymoon. They reportedly treated their guests to a lavish fireworks display on the eve of their wedding day at the resort.

Carrie began dating Mike after she split from "Gossip Girl" hunk Chace Crawford in March 2008. The country crooner and the Ottawa Senators star announced their engagement in December 2009. "It's true. We're both obviously excited and very happy," Mike said when confirming the news back then.

Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher Get Married

Grammy-winning country singer Carrie Underwood has married NHL player Mike Fisher at a resort in Georgia.

"Yes, Mike and Carrie are married," Underwood's publicist Jessie Schmidt said in an e-mail to The Associated Press early Sunday.

The wedding took place Saturday at the Reynolds Plantation resort in Greensboro, Ga.

Underwood, 27, rose to fame after winning the fourth season of "American Idol." Fisher, 30, is a forward for the Ottawa Senators.

No details on where Underwood and Fisher will spend their honeymoon have been released.

Angelina Jolie Says Her New Tattoo Is For Brad Pitt

It's safe to say Angelina Jolie is as well known for the details of her personal life as she is for her work as a Hollywood actress. Occasionally, however, those two aspects collide, like when her onscreen characters sport some of her real-life tattoos. And Jolie's penchant for ink has been well-documented, both in the tabloids that follow her closely and in her big-screen appearances. But observant fans recently spotted some new work when Vanity Fair ran a cover story on the A-List star.

MTV News caught up with the star this week in Washington, D.C., where Jolie was promoting "Salt," and we had to ask about the tattoo. But the actress was tight-lipped about what the ink, on her inner thigh, actually said.

"Um, it's for Brad," Jolie demurred with a smile.

She was more open, she said, when it comes to her personal life.

"I actually think it's important to be completely honest, however difficult that may be," Jolie told us about what makes a relationship successful. "I'm bad at hiding secrets anyway," she added.

While we won't speculate on the content of her latest tattoo (that's what the zoom feature on Photoshop is for), the balance of Jolie's tattoos more or less chronicle her romantic history, and offer some insight into her philosophies about love and life. On her shoulder, for instance, is a Buddhist Pali incantation that offers such wisdom as "if you acquire riches, may they remain yours always," and on her hip is a Latin inscription: "quod me nutrit me destruit," which translates to "what nourishes me, destroys me."

Jolie also revealed that her partner, Pitt, had yet to see the action flick, which opens July 23.

"He hasn't seen the movie," she said. "Maybe he'll question me after he sees it," she joked of playing a string of wives-with-secrets. Jolie admitted she couldn't be sure how her choice in roles might affect their offscreen relationship. But she was sure Pitt would enjoy "Salt."

"Oh, of course," Jolie said. "He was there for the shooting and he would come to set and he'd seen some of the stunt sequences and stuff. He thinks it looks cool and all of that, but he hasn't seen the whole thing. He'll see it at the premiere."
