Christina Aguilera Meets New Guy's Mom

Christina Aguilera has been spending time with her new guy Matt Rutler – and his family.

Aguilera, who recently filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman, had a festive night out with Rutler at the Abbey in West Hollywood on Nov. 24. The couple were seen dancing, according to an onlooker, who added: "Christina was in a great mood and seemed very into Matt."

Aguilera, 29, spent Thanksgiving in Los Angeles with friends. Then after the holiday, the singer and Rutler, who worked as a set assistant on her film Burlesque, jetted to New York, while her son Max stayed with his dad for the holiday weekend.

"This is the first Thanksgiving she was without Max," says a source. "It was really hard for her and she was feeling sad, so she decided to go to the East Coast with Matt and a group of friends."
On Saturday, Aguilera, Rutler and a few pals went to Rhode Island for a spontaneous visit to Rutler's family home where they spent time with his mom, Kathleen.

"Since his family lives so close, they decided to drop in for a few hours," says the source.

But the source insists that meeting the family doesn't mean Aguilera and Rutler are getting more serious. "They’re still getting to know each other better," says the source.

That night, the couple partied at the Boom Boom Room atop the Standard Hotel together in New York City.

Pregnancy rumours hit Aishwarya in Dubai

Rumours related to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have again started making the rounds. The rumours, this time, are related to her pregnancy not in India but in Dubai.

But rumours have become such a routine affair for Ash that she does not even clarify them. We presume that she chooses to laugh it off.

Ash had some interviews scheduled in Dubai, but they were cancelled at the last moment leading to speculation among the small community of Indian journalists in the Middle East.

"Unless it is a case of dodgy Indian curries that is slowly but surely emanating, the rumour mills are grinding to grist the possibility of a classic Ash diva tantrum because she is pregnant," quoted the local newspaper in Dubai.

Sources had informed the newspaper that Ash was not well and hence had cancelled the said interviews. This is not the first time that the buzz about her pregnancy hasreached us.

Had we believed in all these gossips Ash and Abhishek should have had a few babies by now. We guess we should leave the couple alone and give them the benefit of doubt and the honour to make the announcement themselves.

After all, their marriage was the biggest ever in Bollywood and when the Bachchans will confirm any such news it would surely be the biggest one, too.

Kat in the item number league

Now Katrina Kaif has joined them! Her 'Sheila ki jawani' is the latest in a long line of raunchy numbers that have made top mainstream actresses shed their inhibitions to set the adrenaline pumping. Why, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai have done it too.

" Sheila Ki Jawani" from Farah Khan's third directorial venture " Tees Maar Khan" has become quite popular even before the song was officially released. Its spicy lyrics and Katrina's sexy moves have struck a chord with the audience and the electrifying song is being frequently played on radio stations and television channels.

The lyrics in these item numbers are catchy - and they don't always make sense even if they are provocative.

"Lyrics are lyrics. No one should take them literally and seriously and analyse them in songs like these. If you believe you are doing something clean and keeping yourself in the boundaries of dignity, then the lyrics and mood of the song don't matter and you feel comfortable while performing it," Katrina told us.

"I enjoy my dancing. I don't know how technically good I am, but I like doing it and I enjoyed it," she added.

"Sheila ki jawani" is on its way to giving competition to this year's most popular number "Munni badnaam hui" from "Dabangg". The song was picturised on Malaika Arora who earlier sizzled on the screen in songs like "Chhaiyan chhaiyan" and "Mahi we".

Item numbers are Hindi films' way of spicing up a film. Among mainstream actresses, it was Bollywood's dancing queen Madhuri Dixit who became perhaps the first to set the temperatures soaring with the sensuous item number "Choli ke peeche kya hai".

Later from Shilpa Shetty to  Aishwarya Rai and from Kareena Kapoor to Priyanka Chopra, everyone followed suit.

"Earlier mainstream actresses were shown as very simple and docile. But the overall image is now changing and today they have become smarter and bolder and they would certainly not mind being a part of provocative song," film critic Omar Qureshi told us.

"However, many actresses agree to do an item number just for the sake of their friendship with actors or filmmakers, such as Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Billu'," he added.

Aishwarya wowed the audience with her sensuous moves in "Ishq kamina" in "Shakti" and "Kajrare" in "Bunty Aur Babli".

Shilpa is still remembered for her scintillating dance in the song "Main aayi hun UP (Uttar Pradesh) Bihar lootne" in "Shool" and "Shut up and bounce" in Abhishek Bachchan-John Abraham starrer "Dostana".

Kareena Kapoor's "Yeh mera dil" in Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Don: The Chase Begins Again", Sushmita's "Mehboob mere" in "Fiza" and Urmila Matondkar's "Aa hi jaiye" in "Lajja" are still popular among people.

"Item numbers have become the USP of a film. So it's like even if the film doesn't work, at least the song becomes popular and it is widely played in parties and shows," said trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Actresses like Isha Koppikar rose on the film firmament with the item number "Khallas" in the hit gangster movie "Company", while Rakhi Sawant is known for her bold and sexy numbers like "Tuk tuk dekhe" in "Krazzy 4".

Item numbers are so tempting that even yesteryear diva Rekha couldn't hold herself back from featuring in "Kaisi paheli" in "Parineeta".
