Katy Perry seems to be all the rage nowadays and tonight she will perform live at the Grammy Nominations Concert.
Tonight at 10pm on CBS the Grammy Nominations Concert airs live (well, probably live for the east coast and on tape for the west). Scheduled to perform tonight are Justin Bieber, B.o.B. Miranda Lambert, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry. It should be a jam packed shows as they try to fit in five live performances as well as the announcements of the Grammy Nominees in one hour (more like 45 minutes after commercials).
Of particular interest to me is Katy Perry. She seems to have been everywhere in the last couple of months. Ever since the great Sesame Street incident where she wore a low cut dress that showed off her boobs and proceeded to run and jump with Elmo as her boobs happily bounced with the song she has been an unstoppable force. The producers of Sesame Street promised to not air the Katy Perry footage again after receiving some complaints, but the video is all over YouTube and has gotten millions of views. A few weeks after that she was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live and appeared in a sketch that made fun of the Sesame Street video. With her high profile bachelorette party thrown by Rihanna and her lavish marriage in India to Russell Brand, Perry continued to make headlines while her song “Teenage Dream” made its way up the charts.
Katy Perry new song Firework was basically the theme song for last night’s Victoria’s Secret fashion Show and also appears in a promotional video for the show. She has also appeared on The X Factor, the American Music Awards and even did a guest spot on The Simpsons. So it makes sense that she would appear on tonight’s Grammy Nomination Concert because she is clearly a very hot, in demand, commodity right now. While there is no official word on what song or songs she will sing I look for her to either do “Firework” in its entirety or she might mix it in with a medley of her recent hits including “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream.”
Whether it was the Elmo sketch or not that has ignited Katy Perry, she is taking full advantage of it and with her good looks, catchy songs and often tight, sexy outfits I don’t think she will be going anywhere soon.
