Diablo Cody’s 8.29 Red Band Trailer interview with Megan Fox was quite interesting and helped many to unearth a treasure trove that was buried deep inside Fox. Cody praised Fox for her sensibility but also highlighted the fact that many journalists and media persons often cross the line of decency at times.
Cody started the interview by asking Fox about whether she ever felt let down by the media or ever got into trouble by being misquoted or misrepresented. Fox added that she had in fact had such bad experiences in the past when something she had commented upon was blown out of proportion by the media to make it more scandalous.
Fox also added that journalists are out there in a trade and they hardly care anything about the content. The actual meaning of the words is often put in a different perspective to sensationalize things. Fox questioned Cody whether he has experienced this before. Cody hinted that with the tabloid culture and the web, news is spreading fast unlike the seventies when the technology was not booming and interviews in Rolling Stone had an endless number of pages so that one got to know a celebrity better. On being asked what principles Fox adheres to while giving interviews, Fox added “I really do not wish to portray my real self in interviews ,especially for the print medium as everyone is on the lookout for any material to weave a story along in order to sensationalize “
